Senior Picture Time Arrives!

As school is starting up again, senior picture time is arriving quickly as well. This means for me, being a senior, that it’s time for the “focus” to be on me. This means I have to schedule my senior picture appointments and start picking out my outfits for these important pictures.

Over the summer, I got the lifetouch postcard in the mail. This postcard said my senior pictures were on this date, at this time. I was pretty excited to get this card. My mom and I planned out what outfit I would were, how I would do my hair, and if we would buy any. When we got to the school that day, we sat down with the lifetouch representative and talked about what we wanted, as we waited. My mom decided to get only two key chains from lifetouch. She decided this after she remembered we were getting my alternate senior pictures done in a couple of weeks. Lifetouch then took my pictures. I was unsure of how they would look but I was happy when I saw them. I was relieved my senior pictures were done, but then I remembered I had round two yet to go.

Tuesday September 10th, was my round two of senior pictures. This was my scheduled date for my alternate senior pictures. I scheduled this date with Danyelle Ritchie, a local photographer. I was really excited when this date arrived. After school, I went and got my hair done at Central Boutique. They curled my hair loosely and braided the front into a halo. Then, I went home and packed up my three outfits. When we arrived at Danyelle’s house, she was as excited as I was. We drove to a nearby pumpkin patch and an abandoned farm. We took lots of pictures at both locations. Danyelle and I had so much fun together. We loved the country landscape and experimented with many different poses. I was super excited when she posted some of my pictures on Facebook. I loved working with Danyelle and loved how my senior pictures turned out!

Senior pictures arrive again but they are not your traditional senior pictures. Today’s seniors don’t want the boring studio pictures. They are looking for more creative ways to express themselves. Senior photographers are no longer shooting the “formal” attire on seniors. Senior photographers are now shooting the “magazine, glamorous” attire on seniors. Senior pictures have evolved from traditional to spectacular. It’s no longer the short series of images of you with your chin slightly raised. It’s now the long series of images of you with many different poses and outfits. As the world evolves so does the way seniors want to be photographed.

I completely agree with this article. I didn’t want the traditional senior pictures either. I preferred the outdoor and more fancy pictures. I liked my senior pictures that were taken by lifetouch. But I loved my senior pictures that were taken by Danyelle Ritchie. I liked how lifetouch’s pictures was professional. But I loved how Danyelle Ritchie’s pictures showed my personality. Both ways of taking senior pictures are great but as the world changes so does photography.
